In the North Indian plains, a dense network of railways has developed because railway network is relatively less dense in the hilly states in the north and north-east, in the central parts of India, and in the desert area of Rajasthan, so in comparison, it is focused in the North Indian plains where there is a lot of levelled land, industrialization, dense urbanisation, available water resources, and great agricultural resources as a result of fertile soil.

2. The railway network is dense in North Indian Plains and in areas where the slopes are gentle.
3. Also, this area has a high population and well-developed agriculture and industries. This has led to increased urbanization in these regions, as a result of which a dense network of railways has developed in the north Indian plains.
