Definition

Positive Numbers: A positive number is a number greater than zero. These are written as 1, 2, 3, … or with a ‘+’ sign as +1, +2, +3, … (though the ‘+’ is usually omitted).
Negative Number: A negative number is a number less than zero and is written with a ‘−’ sign, such as −1, −2, −3, …

Integer Positions and Their Relationships:

  • On a number line, positive numbers lie to the right of zero, and negative numbers lie to the left of zero.
  • Zero (0) is neither positive nor negative and does not carry any sign.
  • Every positive integer is greater than 0. 
  • Every positive integer is greater than every negative integer.
  • Zero is greater than every negative integer and is less than every positive integer. 
  • Every negative integer is smaller than every positive integer.
