प्रश्न
A computer was available for Rs 27,216, which included two successive discounts of 20% and 10% on the basic price and a sales tax of 8% on the remaining price. Find the basic price of the computer.
उत्तर
Let the basic price be x
First rebate = 20 % of x
Cost of oomputer after first discount = x - 20 % of x
`= "x"- (20 "x")/100`
`= (80 "x")/100`
Seoond rebate =10 % of `(80 "x")/100`
Cost of oomputer after seoond discount
= `(80 "x")/100 - 10 % "of" (80 "x")/100`
= `(80 "x")/100 - (10/100 xx (80 "x")/100)`
= `(80 "x")/100 - (80 "x")/1000`
= `(720 "x")/1000 = (72 "x")/100`
Sales tax = 8 % of oost of computer
`= 8/100 xx (72 "x")/100`
`= (576 "x")/10000`
Total cost = cost + sales tax
`= (72 "x")/100 + (576 "x")/10000`
`= (7776 "x")/10000`
But total cost = Rs 27,216
⇒ `(7776 "x")/10000` = Rs 27216
⇒ x = `(27216 xx 10000)/7776`
⇒ x = Rs 35000
Hence, Basic price of Computer= Rs 35,000
