Explanation:

Alcohol : Water = 5 : 4

Let the common multiple be ‘x’

∴  Alcohol = 5x and water = 4x

According to the question: `(5x)/(4x + 9) = 4/5`

⇒ 25x = 16x + 36

⇒ 9x = 36

⇒ x = 4

∴ Quantity of alcohol = 5x = (5 × 4) L = 20 L
