The Vijayanagar rulers followed ancient Vedic customs; therefore there were no major social or cultural changes during that time. Society was quite conservative and was governed by religious norms. The caste system was rigid and Brahmanas were considered superior and these religious supremos did not allow to have much social or cultural changes.
