प्रश्न
Answer the following question briefly:
According to Frazer, what are the different types of magic?
उत्तर
Magic can be broken down into two aspects:
The Law of Similarity and the Law of Contact.
The Law of Similarity is the idea that like produces like and that the effect of something resembles its cause. The magician that operates under this system of thought assumes that they can produce any effect that they want simply by imitating it. The charms produced under this system can be called Homeopathic Magic.
The Law of Contact is the idea that things that have been in contact with each other will continue to act upon each other even after they have been separated from each other. The magician operating under this system assumes that whatever they do to a material object will continue to affect the person that the object had once been in contact with even after the contact has been lost. Charms produced under this system can be called Contagious Magic.
