प्रश्न
Arrange the given fraction in descending order by making numerator equal:
`3/7, 4/9, 5/7 and 8/11`
उत्तर
`3/7, 4/9, 5/7 "and" 8/11`
L.C.M. of numerators 3, 4, 5 and 8 = 120
`therefore 3/7 = (3 xx 40)/(7 xx 40) = 120/280`
`4/9 = (4 xx 30)/(9 xx 30) = 120/270`
`5/7 = (5 xx 24)/(7 xx 24) = 120/168`
`8/11 = (8 xx 15)/(11 xx 15) = 120/165`
It is clear from the above that
`120/165 > 120/168 > 120/270 > 120/280`
or `8/11 > 5/7 > 4/9 > 3/7`
Hence, `8/11, 5/7, 4/9, 3/7` are in descending order.
