प्रश्न

Define an ideal solution and write one of its characteristics.

उत्तर

Definition:
The solutions that obey Raoult’s law over the entire range of concentration are called ideal solutions. Examples: n-hexane and n-heptane

For ideal solutions:

Enthalpy of mixing (Δmix H) of the pure components to form the solution is zero.

Volume of mixing (Δmix V) is also equal to zero.
