प्रश्न
Define state function and write two examples of it.
उत्तर १
A property that depends on the state of a system and is independent of the path followed to attain it is called a state function. For example, pressure and temperature are state functions.
उत्तर २
The thermodynamic properties whose values depend only upon the initial and final states of the system are known as state functions. A state function depends only on the start and endpoint, and not the path.
Example of state function:
Few examples of state functions are,
- Internal energy (U)
- Enthalpy (H)
- Entropy (S)
- Gibbs energy
- Pressure
- Temperature
- Mass
- Volume
