प्रश्न
Describe the process of sublimation with examples.
उत्तर
Sublimation is a form of phase transition or shift in a state of matter. The process of change of solid directly into vapours on heating is sublimation without ever going through a liquid phase. A common example of sublimation is the dry ice, heavy CO2.
Examples of Sublimation:
- Camphor: Camphor sublimates when heated, producing a fragrant vapor.
- Dry Ice (Solid Carbon Dioxide): At room temperature and normal pressure, dry ice sublimates directly into carbon dioxide gas.
- Iodine Crystals: When heated, iodine changes from solid purple crystals to a purple gas.
