Basic Marketing Selling
1. Scope Marketing has a very wide scope and includes selling also. It covers all activities concerned with the identification and satisfaction of customers' needs and wants.  Selling is only a part of marketing. its scope is restricted to maximizing the volume of sales. 
2. Focus Marketing focuses on customer's needs for want-satisfying goods.  Selling focuses on the seller's needs. i.e. converting his gods into cash.
3. Sequence Marketing begins before actual production takes place.  Selling takes place after production. 
4. Emphasis Emphasis is given on product planning and development to match products with customers' needs.  Emphasis is placed on the sale of goods already produced.

Meaning Marketing implies understanding the customers’ needs and introducing a product accordingly. It is a transfer of product from the manufacturer to the customer in exchange for the money.
Approach A customer-oriented approach is followed. A product-oriented approach is followed.
Strategy Marketing adopts a pull strategy. Selling follows a push strategy.
Target Audience The target audience for marketing is the general public. It targets specific individuals and companies.
Primary aim Its main aim is to create products that fulfil customers’ requirements and provide them with maximum satisfaction. It aims at attracting the buyers to Influence the target audience to become buyers of the product
