प्रश्न
Does transpiration serve any useful function in the plants? Explain.
उत्तर
- The leaves of the plants continuously transpire due to which excess water is thrown out. This loss of water is compensated by water transport from the roots.
- Transpiration in the leaves generates traction (pull) inside the plant, due to which water reaches the top of the plant, and the leaves of the plant keep getting water and minerals.
- Transpiration is mainly responsible for the loss of water that is absorbed by the plants. However, it is important for plants as it helps in the movement of water to the top of tall trees.
- As a result, it helps in the distribution of water throughout the plant body. It also helps in cooling the plant.
