Tissue Monocot stem Dicot stem
Epidermis Mostly it is hairless. It is usually hairy.
Hypodermis It is made up of endothelium. It is made up of macro angle transitions.
cortex Is not differentiated. Made of parenchyma.
Endodermis Is absent. Generally clear.

Vascular bundle

  1. bundle sheath
  2. xylem
  3. phloem
  1. Fillers remain scattered in the tissue.
  2. Are always short-lived.
  3. A bundle of fasciculus surrounds each fascicle.
  4. Vessels are arranged in 'V' or 'Y' shape.
  5. Located in the middle of 'V' shaped xylem.
  6. Phloem lacks parenchyma.
  1. They are arranged in more cycles.
  2. Are always in uniform.
  3. There is scarcity.
  4. The vessels are arranged in radial rows.
  5. Occurs outside or on both sides of the xylem.

Pith (Medulla) Absent Made up of parenchymatous cells situated in the centre of stem
Medullary rays Absent Found in between vascular bundles.
