प्रश्न

Explain mechanism of sugar transport through phloem.

संक्षेप में उत्तर

उत्तर

  1.  The part of the plant where food is synthesised is known as the source, and the section where it is used is known as the sink.
  2. Food is transported in the form of sucrose through phloem tissue from source to sink along a concentration gradient.
  3. Munch's pressure flow theory, sometimes known as the mass flow hypothesis, is a widely established sugar transport theory.
  4. Because glucose is synthesised in photosynthetic cells, endosmosis develops as a result of increasing osmotic concentration.
  5.  As a result, turgor pressure rises and sugar is driven into the sieve tube of the vein from the photosynthetic cell. This is known as vein loading.
  6. At the washbasin, sugar is used and the excess is converted to starch, lowering the osmotic concentration and causing exosmosis.
  7. Because the turgor pressure is reduced, the turgor pressure gradient is established, and food is passively translocated against the concentration gradient. This is known as vein unloading.
