प्रश्न
Explain the evolution of the long neck of giraffe according to Charles Darwin.
उत्तर
Darwin explained the evolution of the long neck of modem Giraffe by presuming the existence of variability in length of neck and legs in the ancestral population of Giraffe. Long-necked giraffe with long forelegs was more successful in reaching soft leaves of trees for feeding. Therefore, natural selection favored long neck progeny generation after generation.
