Electrolytic reduction is done to obtain aluminium?

Aluminium oxide is a very stable compound because of its great affinity for oxygen. It is not reduced easily by common reducing agents such as carbon or hydrogen. Hence, the electrolytic reduction is done to obtain aluminium.
