प्रश्न

Highlight any four reasons for the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan.

संक्षेप में उत्तर

उत्तर

Four reasons for the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan are:

  1. Although Muslims made up the majority of Kashmir's population, the state was ruled by Hindu King Hari Singh. During an infiltration operation on Kashmir, Raja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession, incorporating Kashmir into India.
  2. Even after signing the Instrument of Accession, Pakistan refused to acknowledge Kashmir as a part of India and launched a military attack on India. The battle between the two countries ended with a UN decision on Kashmir. Pakistan occupied a portion of Kashmir till then, which is known as Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).
  3. Kashmir was also crucial for the newly formed Pakistan since it served as a link between East and West Pakistan. It also has an excellent strategic location, making it a significant territory.
  4. Pakistan and India have fought four full-scale wars over the unsolved Kashmir issue. Pakistan has now launched a proxy war and is using terrorists to disrupt the law and order situation in Kashmir. It is now helping militants in Kashmir. Even now, the problem has not been remedied.
