प्रश्न
How did the commercialisation of agriculture lead to the circulation of labour?
उत्तर
The commercialization of agriculture facilitated the movement of labour via migration. Seasonal "migration" to highly arable regions, where there is a high demand for such labour, increased as traditional bonds of patronage broke down. Inequalities in rural areas also compelled unskilled landless labourers to move to areas with higher rates of productivity. Rich landowners denied minimum wages to labourers, who also faced issues like a lack of job security. Additionally, labourers from areas vulnerable to drought relocated to regions impacted by the green revolution.
