How did the UNICEF come into existence and to what purpose?

The UNICEF was created through a Resolution of the UN General Assembly in 1946, to meet the emergency needs of children in Europe and China immediately after Second World War. In
1950 the General Assembly changed its mandate to programme of long-range benefit to children of the developing countries.
