प्रश्न

If in an economy :
Change in initial Investment (∆I) = ₹ 700 crores
Marginal Propensity to Save (MPS) = 0.2

Find the values of the following :
(a) Investment Multiplier (k)
(b) Change in final income (∆Y)
टिप्पणी लिखिए

उत्तर

(a) We know,
`k = 1/(MPS) = 1/0.2 = 5`
So, investment multiplier is 5.
(b) We also know,
`k = (∆"Y")/(∆"I")`
`5 = (∆"Y")/(700)`
∆Y = 3,500
So, change in income is ₹ 3,500 crores

An economy is in equilibrium. From the following data about an economy, calculate investment expenditure:

1) Income = 10000

2) Marginal propensity to consume = 0.9

An economy is in equilibrium. From the following data calculate autonomous consumption.[4]
(i) Income = 10,000
(ii) Marginal propensity to consume = 0.2
(iii) Autonomous consumption = 1,500

Give reason or explain the following statement
Demand for necessary goods is inelastic.

A consumer spending on the purchase of goods regardless of the income in possession is an example of _______ consumption.

If MPC is less than one, it follows that ______

Calculate Autonomous Consumption expenditure from the following data about an economy which is in equilibrium:

National Income = Rs 1,200

Marginal Propensity to Save = 0.20

Investment expenditure = Rs 100

The sum of MPC and MPS is always equal to _____

Identify the correctly matched pair from Column A to that of Column B:

Column A Column B
(1) MPC (a) Ratio of Savings to Consumption
(2) APC (b) Ratio of Consumption to Income
(3) APS (c)  Ratio of Consumption to Savings
(4) MPS (d) Ratio of Savings to Investment

If in an economy, the value of investment multiplier is 4 and Autonomous Consumption is ₹ 30 Crore, the relevant consumption function would be :

If increase in National Income is equal to increase in consumption, identity the value of Marginal Propensity to Save:

'Consumption function curve of an involuntary unemployed workers start from some positive level on Y-axis even at zero level of Income'. Justify the given statement.

How is APS obtained from the APC?

What is meant by autonomous consumption expenditure? Show it on a diagram.

APC can be greater than one, but MPC is always less than one. Give a reason to justify this phenomenon.
