प्रश्न
In a mixture of 126 kg of milk and water, milk and water are in ratio 5 : 2. How much water must be added to the mixture to make this ratio 3 : 2?
उत्तर
Quantity of milk : Quantity of water = 5 : 2
∴ Quantity of milk = `126 xx 5/7` = 90 kg
`=>` Quantity of water = 126 – 90 = 36 kg
New ratio = 3 : 2
Let the quantity of water to be added be x kg
Then, milk : water = `90/(36 + x)`
`90/(36 + x) = 3/2`
`=>` 180 = 108 + 3x
`=>` 3x = 72
`=>` x = 24
Thus, quanitiy of water to be added is 24 kg.
