Multiply by xy
148y + 231x = 527 ...(1)
231y + 148x = 610 ...(2)
Adding equation (1) and (2)
379y + 379x = 1137
x + y = 3 ...(3)
(2) - (1)
83y - 83x = 83
⇒ y - x = 1 ...(4)
Adding equation (3) + (4)
2y = 4
⇒ y = 2
Putting the value of y in (4)
2 - x = 1
⇒ x = 1
(x, y) = (1, 2)
