1. The strict discipline, new weapons, new methods, and uniforms were all new to the sepoys.
2. The sepoys were asked to shave the beard and trim the mustache.
3. The wearing of religious marks on the forehead and the use of earrings were also banned.
4. The English treated the Indian sepoys as their inferior. There was racial prejudice.
