Join two ends of the line to make a triangle. The area of this triangle can be calculated as follows:
Number of complete squares + Number of half-filled squares
= `1 + 1/2 xx 2 = 1 + 1 = 2/2`
Now a mirror image of the triangle can be created on the other side of the longest side to complete the rectangle. The area of this rectangle is 4 square cm.
