प्रश्न
Thrombocytes are essential for coagulation of blood. Comment.
उत्तर
Thrombocytes are also known as platelets which are found in the blood. Thrombocytes are formed in the bone marrow. When an injury occurs, for example, bleeding begins and platelets dissolve. They secrete thromboplastin, a clotting factor III. In the presence of calcium ions, thromboplastin activates prothrombokinase, which sets off a chain of events that results in a blood clot.
