प्रश्न
Under what circumstances did Bahadur Shah Zafar bless the rebellion of 1857? Explain.
उत्तर
When sepoys, enraged by the British, gathered at the Red Fort early on May 11, 1857, Bahadur Shah Zafar blessed the uprising of 1857. They stated that they were from Meerut and that the problem of biting bullets covered in pig and cow fat infuriated Muslims and Hindus. Bahadur Shah, who had just concluded his pre-fast prayers, noticed the ruckus when the Sepoys arrived at the Red Fort during Ramadan. They told him about their activities in Meerut, and shortly after, common people known as Sepoys joined forces to murder Europeans and to attack and plunder Delhi's wealthy elites. Sepoys requested the emperor's sanction as Delhi slipped out of British authority, and Bahadur Shah was forced to accede. The uprising received legitimacy under the Mughal emperor after receiving his endorsement.
