What is aerobic composting?

1. Sufficient aeration is required in this type of composting. The waste requires mixing and aeration for proper decomposition.
2. If proper aeration is not provided, the waste produces a bad odour and does not decompose properly.
3. This is the more familiar and commercially applied method. Although this method is attractive, most of the commercial plants have experienced unacceptable odour problems due to the technical difficulty in providing sufficient aeration that results in a high operating and maintenance cost.
