- Marie was born poor, but she remained untouched by the attraction of material things in life.
- Her life was spent in poverty, sacrificing on food, clothes, and all the other luxuries of life in order to work constantly and in a committed manner to study pitchblende.
- Luck finally smiled on the Curies, and they received the Nobel Prize in 1903. But Marie refused to patent her discovery to earn money.
- She believed that her discovery was meant for the benefit of people and their usage. Thus, she proved herself to be a true lover of humanity and not of wealth.
