What was the issue between Germany and Polland that was a cause of World War Second?

Hitler was demanding the Danzig corridor from Poland as it was inhabited mainly by the Germans. Realising the danger, Britain and France pledged assistance to Poland against Germany. Germany accused Poland of committing atrocities against Germans living there and it became a cause of World War Second.
