The Declaration of the Rights of the Child was adopted by the General Assembly in 1989. It affirmed the right of children to special protection, opportunity, facilities for a healthy normal development. These rights got legal binding with the adoption of the Convention of the Rights of the Child by the General Assembly in 1989. A committee was set up to implement and investigate violation of children’s rights.
