प्रश्न
Why is anode in galvanic cell considered to be negative and cathode positive?
टिप्पणी लिखिए
उत्तर
Anode (−) of galvanic cell: At anode the electrons released due to oxidation reaction are accumulated on the metal electrode surface. Therefore, anode is negative due to the electrons on its surface.
Cathode (+) of galvanic cell: At cathode the electrons are lost due to reduction reaction. Therefore, metal electrode acquires positive charge.
