विस्तार में उत्तर

उत्तर

  • Maharashtra is known as the land that nurtured the Indian film industry because it played a crucial role in the growth of Indian cinema. The first full-length Indian film, Raja Harishchandra (1913), was made by Dadasaheb Phalke in Maharashtra, establishing the foundation of the film industry. Earlier, Dadasaheb Torane produced Pundalik (1912) in Mumbai.
  • The state also contributed significantly to historical and mythological films, with Anandrao Painter and Baburao Painter creating India’s first historical film, Simghard (1918). Maharashtra became the hub of filmmaking with the establishment of major studios like Bombay Talkies, Rajkamal Productions, and R.K. Studios.
  • The Films Division of India was also set up here to promote documentaries. Additionally, Marathi films like Sant Tukaram gained international recognition. Today, Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, is home to Bollywood, making the state the heart of Indian cinema.
