Why mule is sterile in nature?

टिप्पणी लिखिए

उत्तर

A female horse and a male donkey have a mule. A mule is sterile in nature because it is a hybrid offspring of a male donkey (which has 62 chromosomes) and a female horse (which has 64 chromosomes). As a result, a mule inherits 63 chromosomes, an odd number that cannot evenly pair during meiosis, the process of gamete formation. They are sterile because they can't make sperm or eggs. They have trouble making sperm or eggs because their chromosomes don't match up.
