World Trade Organization(WTO) was established on 1 January 1995, pursuant to the 1994 Marrakesh Agreement, thus replacing the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) established in 1948. There were 77 member countries of WTO on January 1, 1995. The WTO is currently the world's largest international economic organization, with 164 member states representing over 96% of global trade and global GDP. Its headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1995, India became a World Trade Organisation (WTO) member.
The main aims of these organizations are as follows:
