Write a short note:
Deciduous forests of India
टिप्पणी लिखिए
उत्तर
- Deciduous forests of India are mainly found in the central and northern parts of the country. These forest areas develop where there is maximum rainfall in the summer season and less rainfall in the winter. The speciality of deciduous forests is that their trees shed their leaves during the summer season to avoid water shortage. These forests are lush green at certain times of the year and become leafless at other times.
- Trees like Teak, Sal, Shisham, and Mahua are mainly found in Indian deciduous forests. These forests also provide habitat for a variety of animals. The fertile soil and suitable climate of these forests are favourable for agriculture and wildlife.
- Deciduous forests are important not only in preserving biodiversity, but they are also important sources of timber, medicines, and other forest products. However, these forests are threatened due to excessive deforestation and human interference. Therefore, their conservation and sustainable management are essential.
