1. Mobile addiction involves excessive use of mobiles phones. There is compelling need to have to continuous access to mobile.

2. It involves the need to:

1. Constantly be on call
2. Continuously take selfies or photos of everything 
3. Post immediately on social media 
4. Continuously monitor other people
5. Keep forwarding messages mindlessly
6. Constantly check one’s likes and its effects on one’s mood 
7. Misuse of mobile phones for destructive and vested purposes

3. People get addicted as mobile phones open the Pandora’s Box of possibilities such as connectivity, social media networking, gaming, access to web world, filming, editing, and numerous apps serving multiple needs.

4. e.g. addiction to Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat etc.

5. Effects: Injuries and deaths due to careless behaviour like:

1. Speaking on the phone while driving
2. Dangerously posing for selfies 
3. Being overemotional in public space 
4. Checking one’s messages during sleep
5. Anxiety caused by loss of one’s phone

All of this takes toll on the mental and physical well-being.
