Hypertension

Hypertension is a condition in which normal blood pressure (120/80 mm Hg) is constantly elevated. Hypertension is defined as a blood pressure reading of 140/90 mm Hg or above. Hypertension is divided into two categories. Primary hypertension and secondary hypertension are the two types of hypertension. The former is referred to as idiopathic hypertension since the cause of elevated blood pressure is unknown, whereas the latter is referred to as hypertension with a known cause.
