प्रश्न
A sound wave of wavelength 1/3 m has a frequency 996 Hz. Keeping the medium same, if frequency changes to 1328 Hz. Calculate
- velcoity of sound
- new wavelength.
उत्तर
Wavelength = λ = `1/3` m
Frequency = f = 996 Hz
(i) Velocity of sound = v = ?
v = λf
v = `1/3 xx 996 = 332` ms-1
(ii) New frequency = f = 1328 Hz
v = 332 ms-1
New wavelength = λ' = ?
v = λ'f
332 = λ' × 1328
λ' = `332/1328 = 1/4` m
λ' = 0.25 m

Sound travels in the form of ______.
Consider the statement given below and choose the correct option.
Assertion: When lightning strikes, the sound is heard a little after the flash is seen.
Reason: The velocity of light is greater than that of the sound.
