Three advantages of good irrigation are:
- Well is the simplest and the cheapest source of irrigation as the farmer has to pay regularly for canal irrigation which is not the case with good irrigation.
- Well is an independent source of irrigation and can be used as and when the necessity arises. It is not controlled by other agencies.
- Several chemicals such as Nitrates, Chlorides, Sulphates are mixed in well water naturally which adds to the fertility of the soil.

- Pumps and tubewells can lift water from deep water sources.
