The speaker is happy about the victorious return of the ship after a difficult voyage.
However, he is shocked to see that his Captain lies dead on the deck. He feels sad and is in disbelief. He wants his Captain to celebrate with the others. He is mourning the Captain’s death, while others are rejoicing.
