प्रश्न

Explain biofuel production with the help of diagram.

थोडक्यात उत्तर

उत्तर

                           Biofuel production

  1. Plants produce biomass by the process of photosynthesis in which solar energy is used to prepare carbohydrates and oxygen. Thus, biomass contains stored energy from the sun.
  2. Biomass includes forest residues, crop residues, etc.
  3. For the production of biofuel, biomass is harvested and transported for threshing. The residue left after threshing contains cellulose, which is later on converted to glucose.
  4. The glucose is then converted to liquid fuel through fermentation, which is used for different purposes.
  5. Burning of biofuel releases CO2, which is again absorbed by plants for photosynthesis.
