Explain renewable sources of energy.

Discuss any two renewable energy sources that would help meet this crisis.

दीर्घउत्तर

उत्तर

Renewable Sources of Energy: Energy which can be replenished is known as renewable energy. Solar energy, hydel energy, wind energy, biogas energy, tidal wave energy, geothermal energy and nuclear energy are some examples of renewable energy.

  1. Solar Energy: Solar panels or solar cells are used to harness the sun's energy. It is a versatile energy source that may be utilized to generate electricity, heat water, and power a variety of devices. Solar energy is common and widely available in many regions of the world, making it an essential component of sustainable energy strategy.
  2. Wind Energy: Windmills transform the wind's kinetic energy into electrical power. Wind farms, which consist of several windmills, are frequently found in places with strong and constant wind patterns. Wind energy is a clean and sustainable resource that can considerably reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
  3. Hydropower: Hydropower, or hydroelectric power, is generated by harnessing the energy of moving water, usually from rivers or dams. Water runs through windmills to generate energy. Hydropower is one of the oldest and most commonly used kinds of renewable energy, offering a consistent and dependable power supply.
  4. Biomass: Biomass energy comes from organic materials including wood, agricultural products, and animal waste. These materials are burned or transformed into biofuels to generate energy. Biomass energy has multiple applications, including heating, electrical generation, and transportation fuel.
  5. Tidal Energy: Tidal energy utilizes the strength of ocean tides, whereas wave energy collects the energy of surface waves. Both types of energy use the natural movement of water to generate electricity. These sources are reliable and can provide a consistent supply of renewable energy.
  6. Geothermal Energy: Geothermal energy is derived from heat stored in the Earth. It involves digging into subsurface pools of hot water and steam to create power or offer direct heat. Geothermal energy is a dependable and regular source of power, especially in areas with considerable geothermal activity.
  7. Ocean-Thermal Energy: The heat contained in the ocean water heated by the sun can be converted into electricity. In a power plant, the warm surface water is used to boil liquids like ammonia to form vapours at a high pressure. These vapours are used to drive a turbine coupled with generator to produce electricity.
  8. Nuclear Energy: The energy contained in the nucleus of an atom which binds the subatomic particles together is called nuclear energy. This energy can be released in the form of heat or light either by fission or fusion. It can generate huge amount of energy. Nuclear fission releases energy by splitting the huge nuclei of atoms such as uranium. In nuclear fusion, energy is released by fusing together small atoms such as deuterium.
