Explain the following, giving reasons: 

In a p-n junction under equilibrium, there is no net current.

At equilibrium, the p-n junction has an equal number of majority and minority carriers moving in opposite directions. The net current is the total of drift and diffusion currents. Since diffusion and drift currents are equal and opposing, the net current will be zero.
