प्रश्न
Explain the mechanism of photosynthesis.
उत्तर
Photosynthesis is a process by which plants produce their own food by utilizing sunlight, CO2 and water. CO2 and water are converted to carbohydrates with the evolution of oxygen. Photosynthesis reaction can be given by the following reaction -
\[\ce{6CO2 + 6H2O \overset{Sunlight}{->}C6H12O6 + 6O2}\]
Process of Photosynthesis is divided into 4 processes -
- Absorption of light energy by chlorophyll
- Conversion of light energy into chemical energy
- Splitting of water molecules into Hydrogen and Oxygen
- Reduction of CO2 to produce carbohydrates

Water and dissolved minerals get into the root hair of a plant by a process called A and enter the conducting tissue B. The process C helps the water and dissolved minerals to move up through tissue B in roots and stem, and reach the leaves of a plant. In the leaves, food is made by a process D. This food is then transported to all the parts of a plant through tissue E. The process of distributing food made in the leaves to all the parts of the plants is called F.
