प्रश्न
Explain the Tie-breaking process in the game of Hockey.
उत्तर
In field hockey, a penalty shootout is used to determine, in the event of a tie, which team advances to the next round or wins the tournament. Five players from each team compete in a one-on-one shootout against a defender in a shootout competition. The winning team is the one with the most goals scored (or the one ahead by more goals than if the other team has unclaimed shootouts).
Rules and Procedures to be followed:
- The first shoot-out shall occur as soon as practicable following the conclusion of the match but in no event later than five (5) minutes following the conclusion of the allotted playing time if the shoot-out competition is held following the conclusion of play.
- From those on the match report, the corresponding team managers designate five players to take and one player to defend the shootouts, with the exceptions listed below. It is possible for a player selected to take a shoot-out to also be selected to defend the shoot-outs.
- After flipping a coin, the winning team gets to choose whether to attack or defend the first shootout.
- The team going into a shoot-out's goalie or defensive player must wait on the back line, outside the circle.
- To create the illusion of ten shootouts, five players from each team alternately go up against the opposing team's goalie or defensive player.
