प्रश्न
Explain why Anhydrous FeCl3 cannot be prepared by heating hydrated iron (III) chloride.
उत्तर १
On heating the hydrate, HCl acid is released and basic salt (FeOCl) or ferric oxide remains. Hence, anhydrous ferric chloride cannot be prepared by heating the hydrate.
उत्तर २
Heating hydrated Iron (III) chloride cannot produce anhydrous FeCl3, but instead creates FeCl3.6H2O, Fe2O3.H2O, and HCl.
\[\ce{2[FeCl3.6H2O]->[\Delta] Fe2O3 + 9H2O + 6HCl}\]
