प्रश्न
First the difference between a single discount of 40% and two successive discounts of 36% and 4% on Rs.5000.
उत्तर
M.P. = Rs.5000
In First case, discount = 40%
`"S.P."/"M.P." = 1 - "discount"/(100)`
⇒ `"S.P."/(5000) = 1 - (40)/(100)`
⇒ S.P. = `(60)/(100) xx "Rs.5000"`
= Rs.3000
In Second case, successive discounts = 36%, 4%
S.P. = `(1 - "D"_1/100)(1 - "D"_2/100)"M.P."`
= `(1 - 36/100)(1 - 4/100)5000`
= `(6)/(100) xx (96)/(100) xx 5000`
= Rs.3072
∴ Difference between both the S.P.'s
= Rs.3072 - Rs.3000
= Rs.72.
