- Chandrayaan-1 (2008): India’s first mission to the Moon, launched in 2008 by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). Discovered water molecules on the Moon, which was a major breakthrough. Mapped the Moon’s surface in detail.
- Chandrayaan-2 (2019): India’s second mission, which aimed to land a rover (Pragyan) on the Moon’s surface to study minerals and water. The orbiter successfully reached lunar orbit, but the Vikram lander faced issues during its descent and couldn’t land safely. The orbiter is still functioning and continues to send data about the Moon.
- Chandrayaan-3 (Expected 2023-2024): A mission planned by ISRO to try landing on the Moon again. Focused on improving landing technology and further exploring the lunar surface.
