Generally, we do not clean natural ponds or lakes but an aquarium needs periodic cleaning. Why?

Ponds are natural entities and due to presence of micro organisms and decomposers clean themselves while aquarium is an artificial habitat and thus requries continuous monitoring and cleaning.
