Mawsynram , in Meghalaya is on the windward side of Garo, Khasi and Jantia hills. It receives rain from the South West Monsoon winds which has its path from the Bay of Bengal. Mawsynram is located in hilly areas as the wind move from south - West it cannot move further strikes the hills and due to condensation Mawsynram receives heavy rain fall.
